March 2005 - APL SCOOP: Leading forensic auditor joins to strengthen market position.
Leeds based profit recovery auditors, APL, have strengthened their market offering in the appointment of one of the most highly respected and well-known forensic auditors, David Thurman, to its board.
Thurman spent many successful years with one of the UK’s first accounts payable auditors, Howard Schultz & Associates (HS&A). It was there that David was instrumental in expanding the scope of audits whilst working with some of the UK’s largest retailers, and he became one of HS&A first Regional Audit Managers.
In 2001, pending the merger of HS&A and PRG, David went on to establish, and spearheaded, an independent group that would go on to secure the contract win for the Tesco account. It was largely due to his ability of substantial increases in recoveries for preceding years that meant he was successful with this client.
Eager for excitement and a fresh new challenge, David chose to look for new opportunities within his field. Following many years of working together, David met with James Cook, a close friend and MD of Leeds based APL, and joined the board responsible for all development activities. Cook said “David’s appointment is a real scoop and now seals our position as Britain’s fastest growing profit recovery specialist. The APL team’s combined knowledge and experience of accounts payable auditing now easily surpasses that of any other UK based auditor and positions us to expand rapidly in the period ahead”.
David commenetd that “It was James sheer determination and drive in ensuring that APL would continue to be one of the leading names in the industry, that was instrumental in my decision to join him. I am sure that together we can achieve our goals far quicker”.
